There have been various rumours floating around lately, as we edge towards the winter transfer window.
Most of the talk is of a striker arriving at Stamford Bridge, as Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud continue to struggle.
Such links have grown regarding 26-year old England International Callum Wilson being a target for the blues. Although we had yet to see any links from strong sources, and the majority had been put down to just whispers.
However, during a Carabao Cup press conference where Chelsea face Wilson’s Bournemouth side – Chelsea Assistant Manager Gianfranco Zola undeniably confirms Chelsea’s interest in the striker.
Upon reply to a question asking about Chelsea’s interest, Zola replied..
“He is a great player. I’m sure he is of interest to not only us, but many others”.
Chelsea are said to be seeking English signings in order to cover the losses of home grown players such as Gary Cahill, Victor Moses, Danny Drinkwater and Cesc Fabregas, who all look set to be heading out the door of Stamford Bridge.
As well as Wilson, I know Chelsea to still have a strong interest in Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy. Although at 32-years of age, he would certainly be seen as a short term fix whilst they search for a younger Morata replacement.
