Chelsea have a history of being tough in negotiations, and chief negotiator Marina Granovskaia is often referred to as ‘the iron lady’ as a result.

It seems like it’s business as usual in that department, according to Sevilla – who have branded Chelsea ‘difficult to negotiate with’, in their pursuit of want away striker Alvaro Morata.

The Spaniard has reportedly agreed to join Sevilla on loan, after asking his agent to arrange the move. The La Liga side have offered Chelsea a £5 million deal to take Morata on loan until the end of the season, and giving a further £35 million to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

Chelsea have yet to give the green light to this deal, largely because they want to source a replacement first.

Up steps Gonzalo Higuain? Well, Marca have all but said that he is definitely joining Chelsea this window. But in reality, any deal is still some way off.

According to The Evening Standard, Juventus want a similar deal that they have with AC Milan, where Chelsea pay a loan fee, and then sign him permanently at the end of the season for £31 million.

Chelsea however, want a short term deal, and for a lot cheaper. So the two are still some way apart.

In typical Chelsea fashion, they are considering a bunch of other targets incase negotiations can’t be concluded for Higuain.

Those names include Marko Arnautovic, Andre Silva. Jamie Vardy, Karim Benzema, Edinson Cavani, and Callum Wilson.

It’s believed they have already had approaches rejected for Arnautovic and Wilson this window.

Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas, who is believed to be back in London after concluding the terms for his move to Monaco, patiently awaits his green light to confirm.

In a situation similar to Morata, the Blues will only confirm this deal once they source a replacement.

They’re currently negotiating with Cagliari for Nicolo Barella, a deal that is expected to go through, even with strong last minute interest from Napoli.

They’re also in advanced talks with Zenit St Petersburg regarding their midfielder Leandro Paredes.

It’s still unclear if both deals will be for this month, originally it was believed that Barella was for the summer, but that’s not been confirmed.

Finally, Davide Zappacosta could well be in a similar situation. The reports state that he has held positive talks with Lazio to join this window, but again Chelsea would want a replacement.

Elseid Hysaj is the main target there, but negotiating with Napoli could always prove a road block.

Bring back Reece James I hear you say? Absolutely, agree entirely!
