The Italian press are reporting that Gonzalo Higuain will be on his way to London this evening or tomorrow, in order to tie up the final details of his Chelsea move, and complete his medical.
The striker was expected to arrive late last week and complete the deal. However, AC Milan kept a hold on the deal whilst they sorted out the details of his replacement, Krzysztof Piatek.
Now the dominos are starting fall, Piatek will join Milan, allowing Higuain to join Chelsea, and Alvaro Morata to join Atletico Madrid.
The latter has agreed terms with Atletico and will complete that move any time now, which looks to be a loan deal with an option to buy around £49 million.
Higuain will fly to London with his brother and agent, Nicolas Higuain. The terms have been agreed, so it will just be a case of signing the deal and passing the medical.
Chelsea will be eager to get their new striker registered before 12pm on Wednesday, which is the official deadline that he needs to be registered by, in order to be eligible to face Tottenham in the League Cup Semi Final second leg on Thursday.
As we understand, ‘El Pipita’ as he is affectionately known as in Italy, will join Chelsea on an initial 6 month loan, with the option to extend to 18 months, and then a further option to buy, depending on performances.
