After losing the first leg 1-0 in controversial circumstances at Wembley this game was always going to be difficult. Going into the game we knew that new signing Gonzalo Higuain would not play as the club failed to sign him before the deadline given. Tottenham would be without the injured Harry Kane & Dele Alli with Son Heung – Min away in the Asia Cup. Chelsea pretty much had a full squad to choose from.
Chelsea Team To Play Tottenham:
Kepa, Dave, Rudiger, Luiz, Emerson, Jorginho, Kante, Barkley, Pedro, Hazard, Giroud
Despite it being the lesser of the trophies available to win it’s a Cup that has been good to Chelsea over the years and any silverware should never be taken for granted. The nerves were certainly kicking in before the game and it was made that extra bit special as it was against London rivals Tottenham.
When the line up was announced like many I was so pleased to see Eden Hazard back in his favoured position with Olivier Giroud up front and Emerson getting a start.
Chelsea started the game very brightly and it was N’Golo Kante with a low hard shot that put us 1-0 up on 27 minutes. To be fair the goalkeeper probably should have saved it. We didn’t care the tie was level.
Chelsea continued to dominate play and we were very much in control. A fine strike from Eden Hazard on 38 minutes made it 2-0 which was fully deserved!

Talking with friends at half time in the West Stand concourse we were all pretty confident that we would go on to win the game quite comfortably.
As we got back into our seats after a half time pint to our amazement Tottenham soon scored. A header from Fernando Llorente completely against the run of play. Throughout the rest of the second half it was only Chelsea who really looked like scoring again. As the final whistle went we waited nervously for penalties. At this point I was quite frustrated as I felt we did enough to get through in the 90 minutes.
Penalties were taken towards the Chelsea fans at the Matthew Harding Stand. Tottenham were to take the first penalty.

A fantastic moment when David Luiz sealed the penalty shoot out. A cup tie over two legs that I thoroughly feel we deserved to win. The atmosphere inside Stamford Bridge was fantastic and it will be Chelsea heading to Wembley next month for another Cup Final!
Final Score: Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham (2-2 on agg) (Chelsea win 4-2 on penalties).
Get in there!
