Manchester City VS Chelsea match preview

Chelsea travel to the Etihad stadium this Sunday as they take on Manchester City in the Premier League at 4 o’clock.

The South-West London side have had a roller coaster of results so far this season especially of recent and this has heavily been drawn attention to. The Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has even been on the players backs and this has added a lot of pressure onto the team. Despite an embarrassing 4-0 defeat for the Blues by Bournemouth last Wednesday Chelsea recently bounced back to beat Huddersfield 5-0 last weekend. Therefore, the Blues will be heading into the fixture with a bit of confidence behind them.

The blues have had a full week to prepare for this game, the most time they’ve had in a little while. This will work to their favour as over recent months they have been playing two games a week most weeks due to the amount of competitions they are in. Therefore, they will have been working hard towards this fixture to be prepared.

Chelsea are currently sitting 4th in the table holding 52 points and leaders Manchester City are sitting top with 62 points. Twelve points separate the two sides in total. Even though the Manchester side are going into this game on the upper hand everything is to play for. Both teams have a chance to get all three points from this game.

This season the blues shocked everyone in the home tie when Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City visited Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were just on the back of a 2-1 loss to Wolves that week and things weren’t looking good. However, they turned it around and beat Manchester City 2-0 which nobody thought they would do. They shocked the football world that weekend. Therefore, anything could happen on Sunday.

The Chelsea boss mentioned the 2-0 win over City in his press conference yesterday. He said: ‘’In the home match against Man City we were lucky in the first half because we scored at a difficult moment. We defended well and deserved to win in the second half.’’

This game is very important for both sides as Manchester City continue to strive to the title at the top and Chelsea continue to fight to stay in the top four. Therefore both sides will be looking to seek the win and I’m sure it’ll be a very interesting game.
