Kepa Arrizabalaga- 8
Kepa Arrizabalaga made his way confidently back into the team today. The Chelsea goal keeper was the centre of attention last Sunday against Manchester City when the player refused to come off the field. Maurizio Sarri then dropped him midweek against Tottenham but everything was back to normal today as he got his position back. The Chelsea manager said: ‘’It was a normal decision today to bring back Kepa. Kepa reacted in the right way to being dropped for the last game.’’ The Chelsea goalie certainly showed what he was made of with a very strong 90-minute performance. Kepa had a slightly shaky start leading to Fulham’s very own Ryan Babel nearly scoring however he wasn’t quite alert enough much to Kepa’s delight. The goalkeeper made at least four crucial saves and saved Chelsea on several occasions.
Cesar Azpilicueta- 7
The Chelsea defence has been faulted of recent especially for how many collective mistakes have been made. However, that was not the case today! Azpilicueta or as Chelsea fans like to call him ‘Dave’ had a strong performance. He was very alert and reacted very quickly under pressure. The Chelsea captain was focused and assisted a very good Higuain goal inside the first half an hour.
Andreas Christensen- 7
Andreas Christensen was another one of Chelsea’s defenders that had a very good game. In competition with Chelsea team mate David Luiz he once again proved exactly why he deserves first team football as well. He was confident and helped out his fellow team mates very well.
Antonio Rudiger- 8
Once again, the defender had a strong game which saw him make some very good and effective tackles. However, he made a terrible error which contributed to Calum Chambers getting the equaliser for Tottenham 27 minutes in. Nevertheless, he was not afraid to take anybody on and he contributed massively to the strength of the back line today which he should be credited for.
Emerson Palmieri- 5
Emerson Palmieri didn’t have the best performance today in comparison to his display a week ago today against Manchester City. The Brazilian didn’t really get into the game much and a few of Fulham’s players did create problems for him. However, he did make a few crosses whenever he had the chance.
Jorginho was one of the star, stand out players for the Blues today. He has been heavily criticised recently by many people as he has been quite out of form. This was not helped last weekend as he missed a very important and crucial penalty against Manchester City. However, the Chelsea boss has kept giving him his chance and he is starting to turn a corner and pull it off. Today he had a very impressive performance and the confidence was very clear to see in his football. Not to forget to mention, the 27 year old scored the winner for the Blues in the 31st minute of the game so there wasn’t much fans could complain about today from him.
N’Golo Kante had yet another great performance today. The French men never really fails to impress and he is always a stand out player that scares the opposition. They always have to be aware of him and his movements on the field due to his pace, quality and intensity, he always seems to find a way. He made some great runs today and overall had a good performance.
Barkley was strong to an extent on the field today however, he did seem very out of depth sometimes. The English men did struggle but he put a lot of clear effort in to help his team secure the win away from home on this Sunday afternoon.
Willian was certainly aware, fast and alert for the Blues this afternoon. The Brazilian put in a good shift and he stepped up for Chelsea today. He contributed very well to the team. He certainly impressed the fans and the manager.
Eden Hazard- 7
Eden Hazard didn’t have the greatest performance he’s ever had today. However, the Belgian linked up very nicely with Jorginho in the 31st minute of the game leading to the Blues getting the winner in this London derby clash.
Gonzalo Higuain- 8
Although the new Chelsea striker could have possibly scored a few more goals in the London Derby this afternoon Higuain put on a great display. He was very powerful and strong up front and there are very few faults you would be able to pick out of his performance. He set the tone for the game and he took the lead for the Blues 21 minutes in by netting a great goal which help lead Chelsea to the victory.
