REWIND TO 2006/07: CHELSEA 4-0 WATFORD

As we approach our final home league game of the season against Watford it’s time to look back on a classic fixture between the two teams.

Chelsea faced Watford at Stamford Bridge on 11.11.06 in the Premier League with Chelsea doing their best to compete for all the trophies on offer to them. Chelsea went on to win a domestic Cup double during this season winning the League Cup and F.A Cup!

The Game:

It was Chelsea who opened the scoring on 27 minutes with Didier Drogba scoring from close range from a Geremi cross. It was 2-0 nine minutes later with Drogba scoring again. A clever one two with Andry Shevchenko allowed Drogba to round the goalkeeper once he received the ball back.

Shevchenko made it 3-0 to Chelsea on 52 minutes before Drogba completed his hat trick on 69 minutes after another assist from Geremi.

Obviously we’re hoping for something similar. Watford do have the F.A Cup Final to think about in the coming weeks so hopefully that’ll be a distraction as their league season is effectively over. It could however also be viewed that the players are fighting for places to be picked for the cup final.

For Chelsea we need to keep winning to ensure we qualify for the Champions League by finishing in the top four!

Either way I don’t predict a straight forward game especially after a Europa League away game.

I’m predicting Chelsea 2-1 Watford. Come on you Blues!
