1)Eden Hazard scored the winning penalty for Chelsea

After a full ninety minutes of intense, nail biting football and half an hour extra time it came down to the all-important penalty shootout. Chelsea had to win on penalties to ensure they banked their place in the final in Baku which will take place later this month. Eintracht Frankfurt scored three of their five penalties. Chelsea scored four out of their five penalties and what a nerve-racking penalty shoot out it was! Things looked very worrying for us when our Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta missed the second penalty for us but not to worry the next three penalty takers- Jorginho, David Luiz and Eden Hazard scored for us. Eden Hazard’s final penalty of the game finished the job off nicely and he has banked Chelsea a place in the final. All though it isn’t one hundred percent certain yet whether or not Hazard will stay or go this summer it was truly emotional to see him net that all important penalty considering everything that he has done for the club. He is a true Chelsea hero.

2)Ruben scored his 10th goal of the season for the Blues

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has played very well for the Blues in the Europa League this season and tonight he put out yet another excellent display. His hard work all paid off in the 27th minute of the game as he scored a great goal to put the Blues in front. However, 47 minutes into the game Eintracht Frankfurt’s Luka Jović cancelled his goal out which put everything level at the Bridge. Even though this wasn’t the winning goal for the Blues it was Ruben’s 10th goal of the season which is a great achievement for the youngster and something I’m sure he’ll be very proud of.

3)David Luiz put out an impressive display for the Blues

David Luiz was definitely a stand out player for the Blues tonight and it’s fair to say he wouldn’t have gone unnoticed by the Eintracht Frankfurt players. He was a great threat against them. He had a very strong performance and put in a strong shift for the entire game which was finished off with a brilliant penalty. The Brazilian’s confident attitude shone through tonight as he made a shot at goal and also made a clearance which did save the Blues on particular occasions. Luiz took the second to last penalty for the Blues tonight to help put them into the Europa League final and he smashed the ball into the back of the net! It was a great night for him and one that most likely won’t go unnoticed by Sarri.

4)Kepa put out a quality display this evening

Kepa played very well for the Blues tonight. The Chelsea goalkeeper may have been unlucky to let a goal in, in the 47th minute of the game but in the bigger picture that didn’t matter and won’t be remembered due to the remarkable saves he made in the penalty shootout. Kepa really did save Chelsea tonight due to the two penalties he saved for the Blues. He made sure that Martin Hinteregger and Gonçalo Paciência penalties didn’t go in. He really did show once again why he is a top class goal keeper.

5)Chelsea are into the Europa League final

It was an emotional roller coaster for the Blues tonight however, in the end all the hard work paid off and Chelsea have banked their place in the Europa League Final in Baku. Chelsea are set to face London rivals Arsenal on Wednesday 29th May 2019 at 12:00. This is the only chance of silverware that Maurizio Sarri’s side have a shot at this season so everything is to play. Will London be made red or blue? We’ll find out later this month in the all important Europa League final…
