The Italian media continue to push the news that Chelsea are ready to sack Maurizio Sarri, even if he beats Arsenal in the Europa League Final.

This morning it was reported by Gazzetta dello Sport that Sarri is set to be axed by Roman Abramovich, due to the Chelsea owner becoming tired of the toxicity and unrest inside the stadium this season.

Sarri has often been criticised by supporters on match days, who have been very vocal with their opinions. This has allegedly concerned Abramovich, who is ready to replace Sarri with former player Frank Lampard.

This is if the second Italian media report of the day is to be believed. Sport Mediaset have echoed GdS’s report that Sarri will be sacked by Chelsea this summer.

They also claim that he will be replaced with Lampard, once his Championship campaign with Derby County is over.

It would come as a huge surprise to many if these reports transpired to be true. I’d fear that Lampard is not ready yet. I’d also state that whilst I understand people’s frustrations towards Sarri at times, there is no way the club should even be contemplating sacking him if he ends up getting third place, and winning the Europa League. That to me would just be farcical.
