Derby County could make a move for out of favour Chelsea defender Gary Cahill if they clinch promotion to the Premier League.
Gary Cahill, 33, is set to become a free agent after spending seven years at Chelsea.
Cahill has won two Premier League titles with Chelsea as well as the FA Cup twice and the Champions League.
These honours that the defender has won with the Blues has sparked the debate- does he go down as a Chelsea legend?
And this has led to him coming out and saying that he finds it ‘hard to respect’ the current Chelsea manager.
These recent comments have confirmed the fact that he will be looking to move this summer.
Cahill believes he still has another three or four years in his legs.
Reports say that the stumbling block in this deal to the Rams could be the wages. It has been reported that Cahill will have to take a big pay cut if he wants to join Derby this summer.
Derby aren’t the only club interested in securing Cahill’s services this summer. West Ham, Southampton and Sheffield United are all rumoured to be interested in Cahill.

Another advantage that Derby hold over any other clubs is that they have a good trading relationship with Chelsea.

Do I think Cahill will move to Derby this summer?
In my opinion, the move depends on many factors. Firstly Derby have to win the play off final on Monday when they take on Aston Villa to even stand a chance of competing with the Premier League clubs for his signature.
That may not even be enough though as reports have come out saying that Frank Lampard is in line to take the Chelsea job after the Europa League final.
So if Lampard moves to Chelsea this summer, then that could ruin the whole deal between the two clubs.
So many factors will determine whether Cahill will make the switch the the Rams in the summer.Embed from Getty Images
