With the Europa League Final now under a week away (Wednesday 29th May) it’s time to put the negativity and speculation behind us and get behind the team for one last time this season.

We deserve to be in the Europa League Final and apart from the Semi Final 2nd Leg against Frankfurt we’ve very much been in control of each tie in my opinion.

Preparation for the final has been up and down to say the least. Maurizio Sarri’s future has again come into question and we still don’t know where we stand with the potential transfer ban. With David Luiz, Olivier Giroud and Willy Cabalaero all signing new contracts indicates to me that we won’t appeal to CAS and will except the ban.

The injury to Ruben Loftus-Cheek has understandably frustrated all fans. Despite the game being in the United States for a good cause and a great opportunity for American based fans to see their heroes I felt it was not necessary to risk key players before our season had officially ended. Poor timed as the club must have known there was a high chance we’d make the Europa League Final.

The positive news with regards to the team selection is that Sarri feels N’Golo Kante will be fit for the final. This is fantastic news!

For some strange reason I find Cup Final’s against Arsenal more stressful than I do against other teams. We have to be fully on our game to win this cup. Hopefully we’ve learnt from the 2017 F.A Cup Final when we were clear favourites to win and Arsenal fully deserved the victory. We know Arsenal will be especially up for this final as a win guarantees them qualification to next season’s Champions League. I just hope we match them and don’t approach the game any differently knowing we have already qualified by finishing third in the league.

Another way of looking at it is that we’ll play with more freedom and less nerves and can express ourselves in the final and we’ll look to expose Arsenal on the counter attack.

Finally, the upmost respect to the fans making the trip to Baku. I personally won’t be making the trip. Flights alone cost more than my season ticket for next season. Hopefully UEFA will learn from this. The location is all wrong and so are the ridiculous prices.

A time to think positive and get behind the team. Hopefully it’ll be Chelsea lifting another European trophy next week.

We’ve done it before!
