The Blues confirm their third match of the 2019-20 pre-season campaign

Chelsea today announced that they will be travelling to Austria this summer and face the current Austrian Bundesliga champions Red Bull Salzburg.

The Blues will play in their third friendly of the 2019-2020 pre-season campaign against the fellow UEFA Champions League qualifiers at the Red Bull Arena on July 31st, which has a 30,000 capacity.

The match will provide good competition for Chelsea just ten days before the start of the 2019-20 Premier League season – which starts on August 10th – with the fixtures being announced on June 13th.

Chelsea returns to Austria for the first time in three years, although it’s unknown as of right now if the friendly against Salzburg is or is not part of a larger training camp, which the club had done previously in 2014 and 2016.

Salzburg has been the dominant team in Austria since being taken over by the energy drink company in 2005, being the Bundesliga champions ten times in the last fourteen seasons.
