Following their Europa League victory, Chelsea have qualified to represent in the UEFA Super Cup.
Think about it like the Community Shield, except you’re a European Champion, not just a Champion of England.
The Super Cup is held once a year in August, and it features the two European champions from the Champions League and the Europa League.
Our beloved Chelsea will face Liverpool on August 14th, 2019 in Istanbul, Turkey following preseason matches against Barcelona and Red Bull Salzburg.
Chelsea have won 1 out of 3 previous appearances in the Super Cup, with the lone victory coming in 1998 against Real Madrid.
In 2012 and 2013, Chelsea lost the Super Cup twice in a row, to Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich respectively.
The club will also look forward to competing in the revamped FIFA Club World Cup in 2021 after this Europa League victory.
” But if we look even further into the future, there is another piece of silverware than Chelsea can already plan for hopefully to get. The FIFA Club World Cup.” – @terrysazio
Chelsea will look to start off the coming season on the right track with a trophy, one out of the five potential they will compete for in the 2019-20 season.
Enjoy your summer Blues, because trophies are coming up soon!
