In news that broke just mere minutes ago, it has been confirmed by Derby County that they have granted permission to speak to Frank Lampard about the vacant manager’s job at Stamford Bridge.

An official statement from the EFL Championship side reads the following:

Derby County Football Club can confirm that they have granted permission for Chelsea Football Club to speak to Frank Lampard about the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge.

With pre-season fast approaching for both clubs it is hoped this will allow Chelsea to swiftly conclude their discussions.

The club will make no further comment until it is appropriate to do so.Derby County Football Club can confirm that they have granted permission for Chelsea Football Club to speak to Frank Lampard about the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge.

It’s understood that Chelsea have told Derby they are prepared to pay the £4m compensation clause in Lampard’s contract.

Lampard has Chelsea’s number one choice to succeed Maurizio Sarri, who left the club recently to become the new manager of Serie A side Juventus.
