We are all obviously buzzing and excited with the news that Frank Lampard is soon to be unveiled as Chelsea’s new manager. This article will remind you as to how important Jody Morris is to this process and what qualities he will bring potentially coming in as Frank’s assistant. Frank and Jody come as a pair in my opinion and there’s no point having one without the other.

During a transitional period for club with regards to a transfer ban and trying to have more stability within the club we will finally have to take our talented youth players seriously and give them the opportunities they deserve. In my opinion there is no one better to do this than Jody Morris.

Jody knows the system well and is not only a product from our youth team in the mid / late 1990’s he’s a lifelong Chelsea supporter having being brought up in West London.

As we know before joining Frank at Derby as his assistant this time last year he had a very successful time at Chelsea as the Youth team manager winning multiple trophies with our talented youngsters. Our current crop of youth players will already know Jody and he would of continued to keep an eye on them. This was apparent with Derby taking Mount and Tomori on loan last season. I’m sure our young players will be buzzing having Jody back at the club and eager to continue their development under him and Frank.

It’s so vital at any club that within the management structure there are people involved who know the club and how it runs. With Frank and Jody we’ll have that in abundance.

Don’t get me wrong I’m extremely excited for Frank’s arrival but once the sentimental part wears off I think all will realise how important Jody is to this whole process.
