So Super Frank has arrived. Finally. Every manager in a club would have players who could make or break their reign.
Conte had Hazard, Costa, and Kante.
Sarri had Hazard, Kante, and Jorginho.
Obviously those managers had many more players but these few I mentioned played pivotal role in their manager’s success.
Now that obviously makes you wonder, who are all gonna be the players that could help Frank Lampard become a success at Chelsea?
With Hazard leaving to Real Madrid in the summer and the transfer ban, Lampard doesn’t have too many world beaters in the squad to rely on. However, the following are the list of players I think could be very useful for Frank Lampard.
Arriving from Borussia Dortmund, the 20-year-old American winger has all the potential to become world-class. While he is often being deployed as a winger, he has shown lots of potential to play in any position in the forward line.
With the skill to run past opponents and take the ball forward, Pulisic can become deadly under the tutelage of Lampard.
Having signed a new 5-year contract a few days ago, Ruben has committed his long-term future to Chelsea. From being an outsider under Conte, Ruben Loftus-Cheek sealed a first team position under Maurizio Sarri.
Under the now-Juventus-coach Sarri, Loftus-Cheek was incredible in the LCM role. His linkup with the likes of Hazard and Callum Hudson-Odoi brought in goals and assists until he got injured. After undergoing surgery, he’s slowly recovering and should be back before the end of the year.
In Lampard, Loftus-Cheek not only has a great manager but a premier league midfield great from whom he can learn and improve much more.
Arrived from Napoli along with Sarri, Jorginho was exceptional for Chelsea last season. The midfield metronome was the central figure in Sarri’s style of football and I expect him to be vital under Frank Lampard too.
Probably the most underrated player at Chelsea last season, the Italian midfielder has the right attitude and skill set to shine under the new boss.
A world-record signing, Kepa Arizzabalaga has lived up to the expectations in his first season with Chelsea. With 14 clean sheets in 36 appearances last season, Kepa was instrumental in Chelsea’s Champions League qualification.
If anything, he is only going to get better. Being just 24 years old, he has the potential to become the best goalkeeper in the world.
You can even make an argument that he is better than David de Gea already since he’s starting ahead of him in the Spanish national side.
I don’t think I have to justify this guy. Having played very important roles under Conte and Sarri, Kante is going to be instrumental to Lampard’s Chelsea too.
A box-to-box midfielder with a golden heart, Kante was often the subject of a heated discussion for the role he played under Sarri. While I think Sarri was right to use him in the advanced role, some fans seem to think he should be a lone DM in a 4-3-3 formation, a role he never played at Chelsea before.
Whatever your idea is about his role, you can’t deny the importance of this player in any team he plays.
That’s it. These are the players I think could be crucial under Lampard.
Honorable mentions: Callum Hudson-Odoi (wanted to add but not sure if he will sign a new contract or not), David Luiz, Barkley and Kovacic.
What do you think? Have I missed anyone?
Note: This is just my personal opinion and I could be wrong.
