‘This is Football’ docuseries to capture ‘the beautiful game’

As a football fan, I personally love watching football-based documentaries and films. There are so many of them.

Sunderland ‘Til I Die‘ – a passionate look at the North-East England side as they struggle in League One.

All or Nothing: Manchester City‘ – the critically-acclaimed documentary series that charters the record-breaking 2017-18 Premier League season of Pep Guardiola’s side.

The brand new, self-titled ‘Diego Maradona‘ film, that looks at the career of one of the greatest footballers of all time.

Just three examples of brilliant programming that encapsulates the passion of football. And it seems we have another one on the way in ‘This is Football‘.

This is the first time I had heard of the upcoming docuseries but going by the trailer above, it looks promising. Especially when got to see a glimpse of Chelsea’s most memorable moment in football…

19th May 2012. The UEFA Champions League Final. Against Bayern Munich. The ‘Miracle in Munich’.

The defensive wall.
The will to never give up.
Drogba’s amazing header.
Cech’s penalty heroics.
Drogba’s penalty of destiny.

A magical night that will be part of footballing history and in our memories. Forever.

The series will consist of six 60-minute episodes. Per the official press release, the episodes are –

Redemption – football’s uplifting role in rebuilding the soul of Rwanda after the genocide
Belief – the inspirational rise of women’s football and two teams who gave everything to make it happen
Chance – the agony and the ecstasy of the fates that humble champions and keep every fan believing in the impossible
Love – four stories from every corner of the earth where the love of the game transcends adversity
Pride – how Iceland’s football Vikings take on the world and give every underdog hope
Wonder – unlocking the secrets of Lionel Messi’s genius and the global delight of watching him play

This is Football‘ will be coming out on 2nd August, on Amazon Prime Video.

EDITOR’S THOUGHTS

As to what episode or episodes Chelsea will feature in, it’s unsure right now. But I’m looking forward to seeing the greatest moment in our club’s history once again from a brand new, fresh perspective.

This has the potential to be another binge-fest for yours truly.

Cannot wait.
