Today Chelsea officially launched our new away kit for the upcoming 2019/20 season. As this is now confirmed I thought it was a good time to look back on five classic Chelsea ‘white’ kits from years gone by.

1. The 1998/00 Away Kit.

This kit was predominately remembered for our first ever appearance in the UEFA Champions League and was worn in our Quarter Final tie against Barcelona in the Nou Camp.

2. The 2001/03 Away Kit.

A kit worn by legends such as Gianfranco Zola, John Terry and Frank Lampard in an era under manager Claudio Ranieri.

3. The 2003/05 Away Kit.

Very much a fan’s favourite and was released in the same summer Roman Abramovich took over the club. Was remembered for thrashing Wolves away 5-0 and winning at Anfield on the opening day of the 2003/04 season.

4. The 2006/07 Away Kit.

Another great kit during a very successful period for the club. A 3-2 comeback win at Goodison Park and a 4-1 win at West Ham come to mind when I see this kit. There was also that incredible Frank Lampard goal at the Nou Camp in the Champions League.

5. The 2011/12 Third Kit.

This kit will always be remembered for that amazing 2-2 draw in Barcelona with Chelsea playing with ten men for long periods to progress to the Champions League Final. Fernando Torres breaking away and rounding the goalkeeper will never be forgotten.

Let’s hope we can have some fantastic memories to look back on in this new away kit.

Let me know what memories you have of the kits I’ve chosen in this article and whether there are some others that deserve a mention.
