Jamie Cumming has been confirmed to stay as third choice keeper this season, and due to that promise he has signed a contract until at least 2023.

Cumming follows the likes of Mason Mount and Loftus-Cheek signing contracts under Frank Lampard, with Hudson-Odoi also set to join this list.

After Jamie signed his contract, he told the official website about why he made this decision and how happy he is:

‘It’s brilliant news, a very proud moment for me and my family, I’ve been here since the age of eight so to sign a new contract that keeps me here until I’m 23 is a great achievement. I’m now really looking forward to the new season.’

‘It’s a great time for young players at Chelsea. We have a manager who is willing to put his trust in young players if they deliver and it’s been brilliant for me personally to get some minutes in pre-season.

‘The Reading game was a great experience because it was probably the most people I’ve ever played in front of and for the manager to put his trust in me was a massive positive. Playing in front of the Chelsea fans for the first time was brilliant.

‘We started well in pre-season and there have been lots of positives from each game but lots of things to work on as well and that’s what pre-season is for.’

‘I just want to work hard every day and try to push Willy and Kepa as much as I can.’
