It is understood that Chelsea trio Tammy Abraham, Willian and Reece James are all set to sign new contracts with the club ahead of the new season.
Brazil winger Willian, 30, currently has just one year remaining on his deal and has demanded a two year extension. It is public knowledge that Chelsea only offer over-30s single year deals but it is believed that due to the club’s transfer ban they will grant Willian his wish. It was heavily rumoured that the player may be on his way out of Chelsea with PSG and Barcelona keen on his signature, however since The Blues’ would be unable to replace their new number 10 they’ve opted to keep hold of the winger rather than cash in.
Chelsea have reportedly rejected an offer of around £25M for highly rated full back Reece James, who impressed last season on loan at Wigan. The Englishman has yet to make a competitive appearance for The Blues but his clear talent has sparked interest from Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace. The board highly rate James and are confident that the player will pen a new deal with the club as they have no intention of selling. His current deal doesn’t expire until 2022 but the club intend on extending this further as well as offering a significant pay-rise.
Much like Reece James, Tammy Abraham also impressed last season in the Championship scoring 26 goals and firing Aston Villa to promotion. The England U21 international also already has a contract with the club until 2022, but again the club are confident that he will sign up for an even longer stay at Stamford Bridge. It is confirmed that Abraham has also been handed the prestigious number 9 shirt for the upcoming season.
This news follows the recent confirmation that midfielders Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek had successfully negotiated new deals, with Callum Hudson-Odoi also set to follow suit.
That’s the Lampard effect.
