With many of Chelsea’s young players already signed new and improved contracts over the summer we still await the one that really matters. Callum Hudson-Odoi is clearly still learning his trade and the snippets of what we saw of him last season were extremely encouraging to see. With Eden Hazard departing to Real Madrid there is definitely an opportunity for him to quickly become a vital attacking force for first team.

The interest from Bayern Munich has never properly gone away and he has seen how well Jadon Sancho has progressed and developed in Germany. I personally feel the injury he sustained has benefitted the club long term as it’s more unlikely that a club would buy an injured player. We know he handed in a transfer request previously but the club hoped he’d change his mind this summer.

With the new Premier League season just days away it’s vital for all involved that the situation gets resolved sooner rather than later. Selling Callum now or letting him leave on a free transfer next summer would be disastrous for Chelsea.

Many reports have suggested that a new and improved contract will be signed but there is no official news as of yet.

The last thing we possibly want is Callum to be seen in a bad light or be perceived as greedy but something has to give. We all want him to stay but it might be the case that he wants to move on. Hopefully the contract is signed this week before our opening game against Manchester United. Watch this space…….
