It has just been confirmed within the last few minutes that Danny Drinkwater has joined fellow Premier League side Burnley on a six-month loan.
The English midfielder heads back up north and joins The Clarets on loan until January 6th 2020, after weeks of speculation as to whether the 29-year-old would be apart of Frank Lampard’s squad this season.
Upon the news being made official, Drinkwater was glad just to get back to playing football once again.
“Delighted to have joined @burnleyofficial on loan… time to get my career back on track”– Danny Drinkwater
Drinkwater joined Chelsea from Leicester City in a £35m transfer back in August 2017, on a five-year-deal.
And despite making 22 appearances for the Blues under Antonio Conte, Drinkwater fell out of favour was never part of Maurizio Sarri (& now Lampard’s) plans.
Drinkwater will now link up with former Blue Jack Cork at Turf Moor in an attempt to get his career back on track.
Good luck, Danny.
