Head Coach Frank Lampard spoke to the media ahead of Sunday’s visit of Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.

Here is the full transcript of what Lampard had to say to the media…

On the performances against Manchester United and Liverpool –

“There were good parts of the Utd game that we lost, but not lost by me. We were more clinical against Liverpool. Liverpool are one of the top teams in the world and we more than matched them.”

On losing the first two games of his tenure –

Of course, this is Chelsea. I have come here wanting to win. We want to win every game we play. When you go to Old Trafford, you can lose. In the Super Cup, we lost on penalties in a match we deserved to win.”

On the racist abuse shown towards Tammy Abraham –

“Tammy is more than disappointed. I am disgusted by the so-called Chelsea fans. Tammy told me he wanted to take the penalty. Because he wanted the big moment. Then somebody being a keyboard says something disgusting.”

On the future of Michy Batshuayi –

“Michy is here, he is one of our strikers. We have three strikers and there will be opportunities for him over the course of the year. It is important he trains well and is ready to play.”

On Manchester City not receiving a transfer ban –

“I don’t know, I am not a lawyer and I don’t know the details in the differences between their case and our case. I am not dodging the questions, I don’t understand it.”

(Lampard also mentioning that it might change in January)

On the ‘best’ position of N’Golo Kanté

“It is a discussion that has been overtalked at times. For Kante, and everyone in midfield, we need flexibility and no one is pinned down by a structure. He has too much in his game to sit deep all game.”

On the fitness of Callum Hudson-Odoi –

“He is getting closer, he trained in the last few weeks with the U23s and he is looking good. There is a conditioning period. He has to be fitter than he has ever been, as I want him to run”

On Reece James –

“Reece is a big player that I want back, he’ll be back in two to three weeks.”

On Mason Mount –

“Mason, a young player, the great start to my answer is his attitude is so good. He is so hungry and he understands what you need to be a player.”

On the futures of Tiémoué Bakayoko and Davide Zappacosta –

“The best decision will be made for the player and club.”

On playing 120 minutes against Liverpool –

“We could have done without it but that’s what it was. We do have an extra day until Sunday and the players are doing a lot of recovery rather than training.”

On his Stamford Bridge return –

“Pride. I’m proud to manage this club and I’ve been back a few times since retiring as a player.”

On criticism after the Man Utd game –

“We need to be adaptable. In terms of the Manchester United game, I think some of the reaction was lazy. Lots of our general play was good. There was more positives against Liverpool and we now need to turn it into wins.”

And that concludes the press conference.
