Italian full-back also extends deal at Stamford Bridge for one more year

In news just confirmed minutes ago, Davide Zappacosta has returned to Italy by joining Serie A side AS Roma on a six-month loan deal, keeping him at the I Giallorossi until January 2020.

The loan deal between the two clubs includes the option to extend the deal until the end of the 2019-20 season. The deal, however, does not include an ‘option to buy’ for the Italian international.

Signed from Torino for £23m on the final day of the 2017 summer transfer window, Zappacosta has made 52 appearances for the Blues, scoring two goals.

The 27-year-old – who has won the FA Cup and UEFA Europa League – has also extended his contract with Chelsea, signing for another 12 months which keeps at the club until June 2022.

Grazie Davide. But now is the perfect time for Reece James.
