The Croatian midfielder has been injured, recently, and therefore replaced in the Croatian squad. We do not know whether this injury was from Saturday’s game or today in training.

The fact that he has been replaced suggests it just isn’t a minor injury, however Chelsea and Lampard could be acting precautious, especially with French midfielder Ngolo Kante also being injured.

Kovacic has been one of the standout performers this season, and with us being involved in three competitions after the international break Lampard will certainly want to keep Mateo as fit as possible.

The level or length of injury is unknown at the moment, but we expect Chelsea or Lampard to release a statement soon. We hope that the other boys on international duty have no problems, as we’ll need them more than ever after the break.
