Chelsea lost their first Champions League game of the season as Valencia won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
KEPA ARRIZABALAGA – 6
Valencia didn’t cause the Spaniard too many problems in the game tonight especially in the first half as it was quite quiet up his end of the pitch. He could have possibly done more to try and prevent Rodrigo’s goal from going in but overall not a bad performance tonight from the 24-year-old.
CESAR AZPILICUETA – 8
The Chelsea captain made some confident moves in tonight’s game and there has been a lot of self-improvement made game upon game since the start of the season for the Blues defender. He worked very well with his team mates tonight and linked up and supported Tammy Abraham and Willian up top.
FIKAYO TOMORI – 8
Tomori had a good performance against Wolves on Saturday and he had another great performance this evening. He made confident moves and he was not scared to take the opportunities that were in front of him especially 37 minutes in when he shot at goal.
KURT ZOUMA – 7
The Chelsea youngster had another convincing performance in the back line this evening. He stood his ground and was very strong and made confident and decisive moves whenever he had the ball.
MARCOS ALONSO – 7
Alonso contributed to the team very well tonight. He was intelligent with his passes and helped the other players with opportunities. He didn’t have too much of an influence this evening however he linked up well with other players and wasn’t selfish when he got the ball.
ANDRES CHRISTENSEN – 7
Christensen got into good spaces and made some good moves. He didn’t have too much of an influence in the game however he was reliable and alert in defence throughout.
MATEO KOVAČIĆ – 6
Kovacic struggled with Valencia at points this evening and they caused him a few issues meaning he looked out of his depth. He didn’t have too much of an impact or contribute to the game.
JORGINHO – 7
Jorignho once again had another good game for the Blues this evening. He was a strong and reliable source in midfield and was very confident and aware of what was going on around him. He made some good and decisive passes when he got the ball.
WILLIAN – 7
The Brazilian really did add a spark to the Chelsea team tonight. He threatened the opposition a lot and was willing to go for opportunities without any doubt.
MASON MOUNT – 5
Mount only played fifteen minutes for the Blues this evening as Valencia’s Francis Coquelin injured him, forcing him to be substituted.
TAMMY ABRAHAM – 6
Tammy tried very hard this evening and tried to create something every time he got his feet on the ball. His link up play with Willian and Azpilicueta was very good and he was close to creating something with their help.
PEDRO – 5
Pedro seemed out of his depth when he came on to replace Mount. He struggled a lot and that may be to the surprise of getting brought on so early but he couldn’t seem to rise for the occasion which is very unlike the Spaniard.
OLIVIER GIROUD – 4
Giroud came on 73 minutes into the game and he didn’t have too much of an impact.
ROSS BARKLEY – 4
Barkley unfortunately missed a penalty for the Blues this evening which could have changed the game so not much went his way this evening.
