Chelsea FINALLY got a cleansheet, the first one of the season, and this victory also was Lampard’s first Premier League win at Stamford Bridge. Check out the player ratings from today’s match:
Kepa – 8
Made a great save when called upon, after the ball got behind Tomori and Christensen. Didn’t have much to do, but when he was needed he provided and stayed concentrated for the full 90. First clean sheet of the season!
Alonso – 7.5
In fact, although Emerson has been great this season, Alonso was quite impressive. He put in a beautiful ball for Barkley who should have scored, and also did not get caught out too much in behind. Decent.
Christensen – 8
Considering this was his first game since his small injury, it turned out to be a great performance. His positioning was very good, and managed to recover well when to defend any balls in behind.
Tomori – 9
Tomori is certainly becoming a fan favourite at the moment, with him impressing so much in his last four starts for Chelsea. Made no mistake at all, and even looking good attacking wise too. Brilliant.
Azpilicueta – 7
Dave had a solid game, with him not doing much wrong. However, it is visible that he does get tired quite quickly and although he is making good tackles, he is still having to recover a lot and his legs are slowly going,
Jorginho – 9.5
One of his best performances in a Chelsea shirt. Absolutely brilliant defensively, and definetely should have had another assist too, but Pedro failed to finish a 1v1. Only leader on the pitch and great to see him tuck his penalty easily too.
Barkley – 5
Not great, not great at all. Took way too long on the ball and therefore losing it many times, didn’t provide anything in the attacking or defensive sense. Kovacic in ten minutes did more than Barkley did the whole game.
Mount – 8.5
Personally, a great game from Mason. He looked much more comfortable in the midfield and the 10 role, and was vital to get the assist for the first goal which set out the whole game.
Pedro – 6
Didn’t offer much at all in the game, and the player who was once our most clinical finisher at the club is also now missing a few chances. As soon as Hudson-Odoi came on, we saw some sparks which the Spaniard can’t provide.
Willian – 7.5
Although he got the goal, and which he should have done after taking about 100 shots this game, he could have had a better performance in my opinion. He worked very hard today, but maybe could’ve used some chances better.
Abraham – 7.5
Not a bad performance, despite missing a few opportunities. Certainly should’ve scored at least one today, but his hold up play and running behind the lines was excellent today and got others involved. Goals will come.
