Goals from Tammy Abraham on his 22nd birthday and then a volley from Willian get Chelsea up and running in their Champions League group. Check out the full player ratings here:
Kepa Arrizabalaga – 7
He had my heart in my mouth a few times when he rushed out of his goal in the sweeper keeper way, however he timed these bursts well, made crucial saves and can’t be blamed for the goal he conceded .
Marcos Alonso – 6.5
Looked okay, however wasted a good positioned free kick hitting it over the bar in the first half, and could have done better with some of his crosses into the box.
Kurt Zouma – 6
A tough game for Kurt on his return to the starting line up, was at fault for the equaliser and looked a bit shaky at times.
Fikayo Tomori – 8
Performed well as he has done in previous games, consistently found his teammates with accuracy, got the assist for Tammy’s opening goal, each game he looks more and more like a seasoned professional.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 7
Looked solid on the right side of a back three, a performance which we have seen many a game from Cesar, solid and reliable.
Mason Mount – 6
Featured on the wing in the first half and he struggled to have an impact on the game, moved to a more central role in the second half and performed better, subbed off on the 87th minute, many would argue it should have been earlier though.
Ngolo Kante – 6.5
A 6.5 may seem harsh, but the first half he put in a non-characteristic performance, was better in the second half, have to bare in mind that he is returning from injury which explains why he isn’t back to his best just yet.
Jorginho – 7.5
Another game in which he dictated the play and controlled the tempo, hit the post just before half time with a great shot from outside the box, becoming a key part of this Chelsea side.
Reece James – 6.5
It was a mixed Champions League debut for Reece, got booked early on for a poor challenge, however he did look confident on the right side and hit a good few crosses into the box, not an outstanding debut, but hardly a poor one.
Willian – 7
It was Chelsea appearance 300 for the Brazilian, in the first half he didn’t have much of an impact on the game, performed a few fancy flicks that often found a Lille player instead of a teammate, however in the second half scored what ended up to be the winner with a good finish.
Tammy Abraham – 7.5
His hold up play was not the best today, however on his 22nd birthday he scored with a clinical finish and is yet again rewarding Frank Lampard for showing faith in him.
