Chelsea ran out comfortable winners against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup, but now it’s time for them to turn their attention to the premier league. It’s their first home in the league in 2020, and Chelsea are desperate for a win. Chelsea have been very poor at home recently against lower opposition, and this time it won’t be any easier since The Clarets are coming down for a visit. The lineup was announced and Ross Barkley was back in the starting 11 and so was Andreas Christensen. Ngolo Kante missed out as he suffered a hamstring injury. It’s a must win for Chelsea in order to improve their chances of finishing in the top 4.

The game kicked off and we were underway at Stamford bridge. Chelsea started the game off well and were putting the Burnley team into pressure, and they dealt with the early threat from Chelsea quite well. Chelsea were dominating but were not able to find the breakthrough. Burnley started to come into the game and were rewarded a free kick at the edge of the box as a silly foul was committed. The ball was whipped and it turned in by Hendricks. But the flag was quickly raised up for offside. VAR was involved early on but didn’t have an impact as the goal remained disallowed. It was a big let off for Chelsea. After a good start from the blues, they were not being pressured by the Burnley side and it has been Chelsea’s story of the season at home. Later on In the game, Willian was brought down in the box by Lowton and Chelsea were awarded a penalty. Jorginho stepped up and he tucked his penalty away cooly and Chelsea took the lead. There was never a doubt as the Italian stepped up. Burnley started to come out their blocks and started to search for an equaliser. Burnley were almost level as Ben Mees header was cleared off the line by Ross Barkley. Another let off for Chelsea as they were struggling to defend these set pieces. Chelsea quickly doubled their lead as Tammy Abraham headed the ball inside the back of the net. It was a brilliant cross by James and Tammy converted his chance. Pope should have done better but we will take that. Reece James was having a brilliant game and almost got on to the score sheet as he cut inside but was denied by Pope. The half time whistle blew and Chelsea went into the break with their heads held up high. Chelsea were 2-0 up at the break and had to make sure they do not give Burnley any kind of hope In the second half.

The second half was underway and Chelsea started it off with a bang as Callum Hudson odoi scored his first premier league goal for Chelsea. Azpilicueta crossed the ball the in the 6 yard box, Tammy missed the ball and it fell straight into the path of the youngster as he tapped it in. There was another VAR check for a potential offside, but the goal was given. It was 3-0 to Chelsea and the icing was surely on the cake. Since the goal the game started to die out. Nick Pope was forced to make a save in the 54th minute. The score was still 3-0. Mason and Tammy were linking up quite superbly in the second half. Chelsea really should have made it 4 as Tammy had a open header but was inches away and should have done better. Chelsea were hungry for more but failed to convert their chances. In the 78th minute Mason Mount’s shot was saved by Pope yet again. The Full time whistle blew and it was big win for Chelsea at home. It was their first home win in the league in 2020 and it was the perfect start for the blues.
