Chelsea have confirmed the signing of French defender Malang Sarr.

The 21-year-old has been a free agent since July after his contract at Ligue 1 side Nice had expired, but has now signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia spoke to the club’s official website: “The opportunity to sign Malang was one we could not miss.

“He is a tremendous prospect and we will be monitoring him closely during his loan period, hoping he will soon be back at Chelsea.

“We are very happy to welcome him to the club today.”

During his time at Nice, Sarr made over 110 appearances for Nice during his fiver years at the French club, scoring three goals during that time.

Sarr will most likely be sent out on loan for the 2020/21 season to gain first-team experience, although his next destination hasn’t been decided as of yet.

We welcome The French International, Malang Sarr to Chelsea football club and wish him best of the luck for the future.
