Chelsea have completed the signing of Thiago Silva on a one-year deal after the Brazilian defender’s contract in Paris expired.
PSG made a last ditch attempt to keep Silva at the club, but the 35-year-old has agreed to make the switch to West London.
Silva was captain for PSG’s Champions League final loss to Bayern Munich on Sunday.
Respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported a few days ago that the deal to sign the veteran defender is close to being done.
He has signed a one-year contract (with the option of a further year) and will arrive in London in the coming days.
The signing of Thiago Silva adds to a very good window to Chelsea football club and Frank Lampard. Silva’s signing will help to solidify the blues frail back-line as they conceded 54 goals in the Premier League last season.
Adding an extra centre-half to the squad may result in a few out goings in that position, with young defender Fikayo Tomori potentially going out on loan to gain valuable match experience.
