As much as signing players will delight Chelsea fans, following the arrivals this week. The club will need to offload some players in order to free up space in the squad, and potentially, future arrivals.

With Ben Chilwell signing earlier this week, the left-back situation is overfull now with Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri already vacating that position in the squad. Furthermore, new signing Malang Sarr can occupy that role if required, but it looks likely the 21-year-old will be loaned out for next season.

So, one of Emerson or Alonso will have to make way. However, Inter Milan, a proposed destination for one, if not both players, look to be doing business elsewhere as reported by Nicolò Schira:

Inter manager Antonio Conte has previously worked with both Emerson and Alonso during his time at Stamford Bridge. But, his temptation to reunite with either full-back looks less likely now that Inter are in talks to sign Aleksandar Kolarov from AS Roma.

Emerson would be the obvious choice to depart Chelsea as Alonso offers Frank Lampard another dimension, because the Spaniard is well suited as a left-wing back in a back three formation

Therefore, Emerson won’t be content to spend his prime years sitting in the stands and watching Chilwell and Alonso compete for one starting spot. So it could also come down to him to force his way out of Chelsea with Italy a preferred destination for the Italian international.
