Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori is reportedly close to making a loan move to Everton following his breakthrough campaign in the Premier League.

Tomori was on loan at Derby County for the 18/19 season under Frank Lampard, featuring in 55 games in all competitions.

The 22-year-old has spent seasons at Brighton and Hull in previous seasons, but a loan move to Everton for the 20/21 season will be a move that will suit all parties.

Last season for the Blues, Tomori started 11 consecutive Premier League games before being out of the side for a spell as Kurt Zouma, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen were chosen frequently ahead of the young defender.

Lampard has acquired Thiago Silva this summer to sturdy his defensive options for next season. Chelsea fans would have hoped that Tomori would be the ideal candidate to partner the veteran defender, but it seems that his future is elsewhere for the upcoming season.

If the move were to go through Tomori would gain a lot of experience at Everton under former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti. All Tomori needs is game time, and at Everton he can do just that so that he can return to Chelsea for the 21/22 season with a lot more match experience under his belt.
