Serie A giants AC Milan have expressed an interest in signing Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.

Sky Italia says the Rossoneri are eager to strengthen their defensive options and coach Stefano Pioli has personally stated his interest in the 24-year-old Dane.

Christensen’s contract with the Blues runs to 2022 and he could be cashed in as the transfer window comes to a close.

The blues have five first-team centre backs at the club and Chelsea could seek to recoup some of the £200m-plus they have spent this summer with Christensen and Antonio Rudiger both linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge.

So far this season, the Dane has played three matches in the Premier League.

Christensen has also been linked with a return to Germany, where he enjoyed two successful years on-loan with Borussia Monchengladbach.
