Chelsea went into this game with real intent to put a sub par performance against Southampton behind them. This game would give us a glimpse into future performances in the Champions League.

Mendy (7)

Looked comfortable all evening and no major errors occurred. His best moment came when he pulled off a save whilst unbalanced.

James (8)

Arguably James’ best performance in a Chelsea shirt. Looked up for the fight and put in a great defensive shift. He also crossed the ball well and was unlucky not to have any assists tonight.

Zouma (5)

A rare bad night for the Frenchman. Had some good attempts on goal but was very sloppy with possession at times and gave the ball away far too easily.

Thiago Silva (4)

Had some good moments during the game but gave the ball away far too much. However a much improved performance from the last game he played for the Blues.

Chilwell (7)

Has slotted very well into the team and looks comfortable. Had a great header on goal and was unlucky not score. His defensive work was good putting in key tackles when required.

Kante (6)

A very tidy performance from the Frenchman. Did the job that was asked of him and was given the armband once Jorginho was subbed.

Jorginho (5)

The captain for the evening. Had a few good moments but after being booked early on for a rather rash tackle was on a tight rope after that. He was especially lucky not to be booked for a second yellow.

Havertz (7)

There were some typically stylish moments from the German, however at times Sevilla’s high press meant he struggled to have a much of an impact on the ball. had a few bright moments to score and was unlucky his shot was saved. Put a lovely ball through for Werner.

Mount (6)

Played well at times but really struggled to get into the game.

Pulisic (6)

Did well in his second game back from injury. Put a lovely ball through to Werner in the first half but the German was marginally offside. Looked much better when he moved to the left.

Werner (7)

Was a major threat throughout. very unlucky not score from his outstretched shot on goal. Looked hungry for goals. However, he did struggle at times when put under pressure.

Ziyech (5)

Good little cameo for the Moroccan international but didn’t really have the desired impact. Tidy performance.

Kovacic (5)

Did well and worked hard when he was subbed on for Jorginho.

Hudson-Odoi (n/a)
