Burnley 0-3 Chelsea

Chelsea capped off a very positive week by comfortably beating Burnley 3-0 at Turf Moor. Goals from Premier League debutant Hakim Ziyech, Kurt Zouma and Timo Werner compounded Sean Dyche’s side to their 5th defeat already this season. This article will look into the performances of each of the Chelsea players.

Edouard Mendy: 7

A very quiet afternoon for Chelsea’s number 1 but he kept his 5th clean sheet in a row and has still only conceded just the one goal in six appearances. He is a major reason for Chelsea’s progression over the last month.

Reece James: 7

A top performance from the young talent, who was excellent going forward as always but his defensive work against Dwight McNeil was the most impressive aspect of his performance.

Kurt Zouma: 7

A new goal scoring threat has been found this season as Kurt Zouma has scored three in the league already. His bullet header capped of a decent display that was undermined by a few mistakes when playing out of the back.

Thiago Silva: 8

Another world class performance from a world class leader and defender. The Brazilian has brought calmness and pedigree to the back line which will go from strength to strength.

Ben Chilwell: 7

The England international has looked at home every since he arrived in west London and today was no different. Another top performance offensively and defensively as he is playing like a second winger in this new system.

N’Golo Kante: 8

The tiny Frenchmen was phenomenal again as the lone sitting defensive midfielder. He showed the this could be his best role going forward and kept the defence safe at all times.

Kai Havertz: 7

Another tidy performance from the German who is really settling into this Chelsea side. He looked accomplished in the number 8 position as Chelsea look to mirror Manchester City’s 17/18 title winning system.

Mason Mount: 8

This performance should show blues fans why Mason Mount is held in such high regard by Frank Lampard as he performed fantastically in the other number 8 position. This formation suits him down to the ground and it will be exciting to see how he performs in the coming weeks.

Hakim Ziyech: 9

Man of the match two times in a week is exactly what the Moroccan would’ve wanted. A goal and an assist capped of a perfect full premier league debut for the wizard, who is looking like a major upgrade on Willian.

Tammy Abraham: 7

A player that is going massively under the radar this season. Another assist for Abraham who has been very effective this season with limited minutes and is contributing to a goal every 70 minutes which is very impressive.

Timo Werner: 8

Finding a player who doesn’t always play well but will score more often than not is the hardest to find in world football. Chelsea have found that in Timo Werner who curled in his 5th goal in a blues shirt this season just past the hour mark.

Frank Lampard: 8

Hopefully he sticks with the 4-3-3 going forward as it is definitely yielding our best performances. However if he does go with this formation, the club could regret letting Ross Barkley and Loftus-Cheek going out on loan.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, Olivier Giroud and Jorginho all came off the bench but didn’t have enough time to make an impact to get a rating.
